The beta version is absolete, you can grab the final Opera Mini 4 from operamini.com:
Note: If you came here just to download Opera Mini 4 beta and you phone supports Advanced MIDP then click the following banner:
Opera Mini 4 beta has been released and you want to try it out. But you can’t download it directly from the site, you have to get it trough the mobile phone, a great inconvenience for those with expensive traffic charges. I mean, that’s the reason I’m using Opera Mini 3 in the first place, to cut down on the bandwidth usage.
When I try to download the new Beta version on my computer trough http://www.operamini.com/beta/ , I’m greeted with a guide “Quick download of Opera Mini 4 beta 2″ . Yeah, that’s how I want it, quick Mini 4.
- Point your phone browser to mini.opera.com/beta – NO
- Wait for the page to load 10KB
- Click “Download Opera Mini” – Fuck NO
- Download the mini.jar file 100KB and spend $$$ like the iPhone dudes
- Wait for the simple setup steps to load after the install – 25KB
- Follow the simple setup steps on your phone – NO NO NO
As you can see, the quick 1-2-3 step guide on operamini.com/beta is not 1-2-3 at all, it’s 1-fuck-2-fuck-3-4-5-fuck! 125.000B FUCK!
Now Opera Software ASS thinks there is a reason for this, and that is the automatic detection of your mobile phone manufacturer and model type. For Opera Mini 3, you have to enter these details manually.
- Hi Steven, what kind of phone is that?
- I’s a Sony Eicsson K750.
- Such a hard name to remember, mine’s called iPhone.
- Fag!
In fact, there are only two builds of each Opera Mini version: the Basic MIDP and the Advanced MIDP. The same goes to Mini 4.
Madness? THIS IS JAVA!

Here is the bullshit I had to go trough to download Opera Mini 4 beta 2 on my computer:
- Find out what User Agent my phone uses by surfing my own server than looking trough the logs.
- Change my browser’s User Agent string to Opera/8.01 (J2ME/MIDP; Opera Mini/3.1.7196/1710; en; U; ssr).
- Go to http://operamini.com/beta/
This is just a .jad that tells my phone how to download the 100KB application- Open up mini.jad with a text editor and see where the real .jar lies whithin the opera servers:
